Grasses play an important role in the ecosystems as they provide food and stability to the soil thanks to their root systems. They help minimize rain and wind erosion and also filter water when it is running through the soil. Important grasses within the Chilcotin Ark are bluebunch wheatgrass, Sandberg’s wheatgrass, junegrass and pinegrass.
